Probate Adminstration North Carolina

Our Pricing
We believe that clients should be charged based on value that is delivered to them, not how much time the attorney spent working on their file.  Our flat-rate pricing lets clients know exactly how much they should anticipate spending.  We believe our flat-rate pricing encourages clients to spend more time to communicate with us so that we can get the job done right.  It also encourages us to spend our time on tasks which we believe will deliver value to the client.

Our Guarantee

If you are not completely satisfied with the legal services provided to you, we will refund 100% of your money back, no questions asked.  That is how confident we are that you will be satisfied with your estate planning experience with Rivers Law.  It's how clients should be treated.

Also, after years of practical experience, we know what clients need and what clients don't.  We promise to never "oversell" a client on a legal "product" which is not particularly useful for that client.  We recommend what you need and nothing else.

Our Story

I wanted to go to law school to help people and to become engaged within the community. After I graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, I obtained an LL.M. degree in taxation with an emphasis in estate planning from Georgetown University Law Center, where I  graduated with Distinction and with Honors.  I practiced in trusts and estate at highly regarded law firms in both North Carolina and South Carolina for five years.  During my studies and subsequent work experience, I learned how to implement a wide array of estate planning techniques, including very sophisticated strategies for high net-worth clients, who often had assets in excess of $50 million.  However, I felt like I could do things differently, more efficiently, and I could help people achieve their legal needs in a more cost effective and personable manner.  I believed legal fees should be reasonable and not cost prohibitive to ordinary families, especially to young families who often need estate planning the most.  I thought that I could keep costs low by using sophisticated technology and implementing repeatable systems which could generate comprehensive documents relatively quickly and efficiently.

I felt that I could best serve my clients and my family by opening my own law office, where I could practice law differently.  I wanted to help people pass on not only their assets but the more important things in life such as values, beliefs, and feelings of sentiment towards their families.

Meet Laura Rivers

Laura Rivers Law

Laura Rivers

J.D., LL.M.

Ms. Laura Rivers assists individuals and families with sophisticated estate and tax planning aimed to reduce or eliminate state and federal gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxation as well as income taxation imposed on heirs.  Her practice regularly includes preparing Wills, Trusts, and Powers of Attorney for clients of all levels of wealth.  Laura frequently coordinates retirement plans and life insurance policies to achieve the client’s overall personal and financial objectives.  When wealth preservation is a concern of the client, Laura negotiates and drafts premarital agreements and other vehicles used to protect assets.  If the client is charitably inclined, Laura implements practical and tax-efficient plans for charitable giving, including the establishment of charitable trusts.  Once planning is in place, Laura advises clients on the proper administration of trusts and estates and on issues involving tax compliance.

A member of North Carolina Bar and the South Carolina Bar, Laura represents clients in multiple states, often traveling to meet clients in their hometowns.  Laura takes a comprehensive, proactive approach in developing sound estate planning, tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Laura holds an advanced degree in Taxation, with distinction, and a Certificate in Estate Planning from Georgetown University Law Center.  While attending Georgetown, she received the CALI Award in Taxation of Property Transactions.  Laura obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law and obtained her undergraduate degree in Economics from Clemson University, cum laude.
